When away camping or festivaling I always grumble when I have to get up and trek to the loo at night. But to be honest I moan about it at home too!

Then on Friday night/Saturday morning this usually frustrating inconvenience became a gift!

As I pounded off head down, determined to get there and back before I really woke up properly and praying the portaloos were still clean I was drawn to look up.

Me and my husband stood and gazed in wonder at the colours in the sky.

We weren’t completely sure it was the aurora borealis until I looked through the camera on my phone. What an absolute treat. I always thought seeing such colours in the sky would be scary and slightly creepy but it wasn’t at all.

Nature never fails to fill me with awe.
