It took 40 years but …

Today’s blog is a special one. Way back in the day, I was a 15 year old arty girl, when art wasn’t a viable career ( is it now!) and I was fascinated by album covers, they presented art in a different way from the fine art and purely realistic art that was presented as the ‘right’ way to be creative.

I saw patterns, I found concentrating on perfection hard and I accepted that in the end a career in art wasn’t for me.

40 years later (well 39 years – if you love facts) I’ve given in and I’m creating again and taking it step by step. I’ve found a comfortable place working with textiles and then refined this down to abstract paintings and collage. It’s a nice place to be.

So where’s this going? As if I’m back there being 15 again, a wonderful friend asked to use one of a series of six of my collages on his next album cover.

And …. tonight we were all together at the Wheatshef as Paul played his beautiful songs and the dream of 15 year old me is a reality.

The official album release is next Friday at the Ey Up Me Duck festival and we’ll be there – me, Harry, Huey and Gem ( she’s an old girl and will probably be in bed)
